Intel Unveils New Budget-Friendly Graphics Cards: Arc B580 and B570

In a significant move for the gaming community, Intel has announced its upcoming graphics cards, the Arc B580 and B570, expected to hit the market within the coming weeks. The $249 Arc B580 and the $219 Arc B570 promise to deliver "best-in-class performance per dollar," catering specifically to budget-conscious gamers.

Powered by Advanced Xe2 “Battlemage” Architecture

Both graphics cards are built on Intel's advanced Xe2 "Battlemage" architecture, which is also featured in the company’s Lunar Lake laptop chips. However, these desktop versions boast over twice the graphics cores, offering up to 12GB of dedicated video memory and a power output of 190W. This marks a substantial increase in performance compared to their laptop counterparts.

Performance Benchmark: B580 vs. Competitors

According to Intel, the Arc B580 outperforms Nvidia’s RTX 4060 and AMD’s RX 7600 in various gaming benchmarks. When paired with Intel’s Core i9-14900K CPU, the B580 achieves an average of 10% higher performance than the RTX 4060 at 1440p and ultra settings. Enthusiasts can witness frame rates exceeding 60fps in demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, and Hogwarts Legacy.

Head-to-Head: Intel vs. Nvidia

Despite its strengths, the B580 faces tough competition; the RTX 4060 continues to excel in several popular titles such as Starfield and Assassin's Creed. This suggests that while Intel's pricing strategy aims to attract users, NVIDIA's card still holds its ground in specific gaming scenarios.

Comparative Performance with Previous Generations

Comparing to Intel's earlier A750, the new B580 claims to be 24% faster on average. However, performance varies significantly depending on the game and the use of Intel’s XeSS AI upscaling technology — in some cases, the improvement may barely register.

Memory Advantages

One clear advantage of the B580 is its substantial memory capacity, featuring 12GB of video memory, which outstrips the 8GB on the RTX 4060. In titles requiring more memory, the B580 demonstrates its potential, outperforming its Nvidia competitor in scenarios involving ray tracing.

Availability and Offerings

The Arc B580 will be available starting December 13, with Intel also rolling out a Limited Edition card equipped with dual fans. Additionally, other brands such as Acer and ASRock will be offering their versions of the card.

Future of Intel Graphics Cards

Interestingly, there are concerns regarding the future of Intel's discrete graphics cards. Intel’s CEO, Pat Gelsinger, has suggested they might be on the chopping block. This trend raises questions about the long-term strategy Intel has planned for its gaming hardware.

Exciting Developments in XeSS Technology

Along with hardware announcements, Intel introduced upgrades to its XeSS technology, enhancing gaming experiences by offering frame generation capabilities. With the new XeSS 2, gamers can expect an increase in frame rates through advanced algorithms that generate additional frames.

New Game Integrations for XeSS 2

Intel's XeSS 2 technology will be integrated into popular titles such as F1 24, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Dying Light 2, promising an enhanced gaming experience for players.
