As a delightful holiday surprise, the social media platform Bluesky has introduced an exciting new feature for its users. On December 25th, in an effort to enhance user engagement, Bluesky launched a Trending Topics list within its mobile app, designed to showcase the most popular subjects being discussed by users.

How to Access the Trending Topics

Finding the Trending Topics is easy! Simply tap on the search icon (the magnifying glass) located at the bottom of the mobile app screen, or on the left sidebar if you are using the web version. The Trending and Recommended subjects will appear just below the search bar, allowing users to stay updated with what’s currently engaging the community.

Exploring Trending Subjects

Upon trying out this feature, I noticed that the top five trending subjects included uniquely interesting topics such as Christmas and Nosferatu, highlighting the eclectic interests of Bluesky users. Selecting any topic will lead you to relevant posts, making it a great way to engage with contemporary discussions.

Personalization Options

If you prefer a less cluttered experience, Bluesky has you covered. Users can easily remove the Trending Topics list by clicking the small “x” in the upper right corner of the feature. Additionally, you can navigate to Settings > Content & Media to toggle off the Enable trending topics option.

As this feature is currently marked as a Beta version (referred to as V1), Bluesky encourages users to share their feedback. This means if you have any suggestions or concerns regarding the Trending Topics appearing in your Bluesky search bar, don’t hesitate to voice them!
